Why is wool bedding So great ?

Natural wool is a timeless option for bedding. It’s actually been used for centuries. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides, now you do too.

We often think of wool bedding as something to add warmth to our beds. But that isn't necessarily true, and there are other benefits to sleep with wool...

Temperature regulating

Wool is a breathable fiber that provides instant warmth unlike synthetic materials. It regulates itself to the individual body temperature and really is warm in winter whilst cool in summer (in cold temperatures, wool removes (wicks) moisture from the skin whilst at the same time its insulating qualities trap dry air and warmth. In warm temperatures, wool’s breathable qualities draws in air which removes excess heat and moisture from the body, helping the wearer stay cool). When we sleep, if we are too hot,  moisture accumulates; we perspire even more, become restless, change position or throw off the covers to cool off. Cooler air immediately starts to dry the moisture through evaporation making you feel cold. This restless, disturbed sleep can be detrimental to the immune system and increase the production of stress hormones. Perfect for couples with differing warmth requirement.

Resists mold and mildew, dust mites, is fire-retardant

Most people who believe they are allergic to wool are actually reacting to the products used in commercially-processed wool. Abrasive washes, sulphuric acid, chlorine treatments, fire repellants, bug spray and other harsh chemicals damage the fibres and detract from wool’s natural qualities. Natural wool resists mold, mildew and flame (wool will not ignite like synthetics). In order to preserve that we wash only in natural soaps. The natural lanolin that is retained makes it resistant to dust mites as well. Allergies to lanolin, the oil found in wool, are quite rare.

 Dirt and odor resistant

Wool's microscopic scales hold dirt near the surface of the fabric, making it easy to remove at the same time preventing odors from being absorbed by the fibres.

Supports Small Farms And Farmers

Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.

Wool also delivers therapeutic warmth, which works together with your body to temporarily relieve pain and stiffness by relaxing sore, tight muscles and conforming to the contours of your body to help you fall asleep.

Hospitals have used wool products for years because of their temperature regulating abilities that ease the aches and pains of rheumatism and arthritis.
